Casting Old Detroit, an interview with casting director Julie Selzer on how the film's ensemble cast was assembled

There is also a sit-down with composer Don Peake as well as outtakes, trailers, TV spots and a look at the original screenplay. Original lossless stereo and four-channel mixes plus DTS-HD MA 5.1 and Dolby Atmos surround sound options on both cuts Arrow Films have created what is undoubtedly the definitive 4K Robocop collection. The movie has never looked better, and likely never will look better than this. Grain is prevalent, and even more noticeable during the TV sequences, but isn’t distracting. The HDR makes Robocop’s armour pop with a violet hue that I’ve never seen before. The Improvements also include the Director’s cut footage, which on previous Blu-ray releases that I’ve owned had clearly not been remastered. Here it is, and while it isn’t a perfect match in quality, it Is closer here than it ever has been before. There is a wealth of archive and new special features, including a very charming interview with Nancy Allen. And the edited-for-television version, which I had actually avoided till now, is hilarious.Original lossless stereo and four-channel mixes plus DTS-HD MA 5.1 and Dolby Atmos surround sound options the Cruikshank-Davison Collection at the Academy Film Archive in 2021 to restore the additional or alternate shots in the Unrated Director's Cut

Original lossless stereo and four-channel mixes plus DTS-HD MA 5.1 surround sound option on both cuts I won’t run down the rest of the extras found on both discs. You can revisit my earlier review to see everything, since Arrow didn’t commission anything new for this set. Suffice it to say that there’s an enormous amount of bonus content found here, with a big batch of new extras that were created for the 2019 release along with a lot of legacy content that was ported over too. Among the bonus content featured on the collection are a documentary titled Full Circle: Preserving The Godfather, which follows Paramount Pictures archivists as they detail the film’s restoration process with footage showing the evolution of the film through various releases. There’s also an in-depth interview with set photographer Steve Schapiro and an assortment of 8mm home movie footage shot in 1971, which is being made available to the public for the first time, and offers a candid look into the production of The Godfather.on the RoboCop: Edited For Television featurette on this release. The full TV Cut was transferred from an original DigiBeta broadcast master tape. We see various shots of Robocop, a profile of a criminal on a screen and Robocop in a car witnessing a crime. RoboCop was shot by director of photography Jost Vocano on 35 mm film using Arriflex 35 BL cameras and Zeiss Super Speed lenses, finished photochemically, and presented in the theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1. Arrow Video brings RoboCop to Ultra HD in a Limited Edition release utilizing the same 4K master as before, which itself was sourced from a 4K restoration of the original camera negative performed by MGM in 2013 with the approval of Paul Verhoeven, executive producer Jon Davison, and co-writer/co-producer Ed Neumeier. The Director’s Cut comes from the same master, but the lower generation materials used to complete it are still present as the original negative trims are now considered lost. However, Arrow Video was able to a new 4K scan of these trims for this release.

Edited-for-television version of the film, featuring alternate dubs, takes and edits of several scenes (95 mins, SD only) Lastly, additional film elements of the TV Cut version supplied by MGM were scanned at EFILM and graded in 2K at R3Store Studios and are includedThe Boardroom (SD, 6 min) — With commentary by animator Phil Tippett, this is a storyboard comparison of the scene that introduces ED-209's grand entrance into the OCP boardroom. Arrow Video’s Limited Edition and Steelbook 4K Ultra HD releases of RoboCop give the film plenty of added value with a bevy of bonus materials and a great transfer. Besides a couple of missing extras, the breadth and quality of this release is worthy of an upgrade. It’s about as definitive as RoboCop gets on home video. Highly recommended! Deleted Scenes (SD, 3 min) — Four exorcised scenes that don't add much to the story but interesting to watch nonetheless.

Director's Cut and Theatrical Cut of the film on two 4K (2160p) UHD Blu-ray™ discs with Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible) Director’s Cut Production Footage, raw dailies from the filming of the unrated gore scenes, presented in 4K (SDR) RoboCop: Creating A Legend, Villains of Old Detroit, Special Effects: Then & Now, three archive featurettes from 2007 featuring interviews with cast and crew More Man Than Machine: Composing RoboCop, a tribute to composer Basil Poledouris featuring film music experts Jeff Bond, Lukas Kendall, Daniel Schweiger and Robert TownsonThat said, the film is sparing in its use of bright colors, but what’s there pops off the screen more than the previous edition, and the main character’s metal suit is more vibrant than before. In addition, Arrow was able to source a new 4K scan of the extra footage found in the Director’s Cut, so those moments look better than they previously did. (The original elements for those trims are long gone, so those moments can never be restored to their original quality, barring something being found in a box somewhere.)
