About this deal

Tip: For more detail on individual Scarpa upper materials go to Scarpa Technical for a full breakdown.

The two boots the featured in this guide are the Ranger which has a full leather upper and the Peak which has a suede upper. The Peak is no longer available, an equivalent would be the R-Evo There are a million and one footwear care articles out there, however, this guide has been compiled by the Scarpa UK team and is specifically designed to service our footwear and most of our upper configurations.

With the laces removed. remove all visible dirt with a nylon brush. Use a harder brush on higher quality and tougher leather (such as the SL, Delta or Ranger), and a softer brush on a softer leather (such as a Terra) and fabric boots ( Mistral, Vortex, and other approach shoes) Take care to apply treatments to tongues, D. rings and hooks. Do not over treat them as this can soften the leather and damage stitching. Tip: When drying naturally, the boots need to be dry to the touch. Make sure you dry boots in a well-ventilated airy location away from any strong heat sources. Regularly treat them with a suitable waterproofing treatment applicable to the type of boots you have (See below). We would recommend re-proofing the boots whenever they get particularly dirty or when water stops beading (turning to droplets) on the surface of the boots. Dry your boots naturally over time in a cool, dry place with good air circulation (Never force dry your boots using heat, as this will damage the leather uppers)

Your SCARPA boots are good to go straight from the box however, despite developments in technology, all of the footwear in our range requires regular aftercare to maintain the highest level of performance and durability. We advise that for maximum effectiveness the frequency of the cleaning process (points 1 – 6) should be after every trip. While reproofing must always be accompanied by the cleaning process above, it is only necessary when there are signs that water is soaking into the upper material and no longer beading on the surface. At this point, if using HS12 cream leave the Leather boots to dry naturally. If using a water-based proofer, reproof straight away.

A fabric studied especially for Scarpa. KCN-TECH is derived from three high-tenacity textile fibres; Kevlar, Cordura and Nylon woven together to form an incredibly lightweight, durable waterproof breathable fabric. Ideal for use on our Mountain Elite line KCN-Tech ensures the perfect balance between performance and weight. S-Tech is a completely synthetic alternative to leather which provides durability and water resistance with a radical weight saving in comparison to leather. Another benefit of S-Tech is that it has a great memory which means that once is it ‘lasted’ into a shape it will hold that shape as the boot ages despite abrasion etc. This makes it perfect for use on our Mountain Elite line. We recommend using Nikwax Fabric and Leather proof or Grangers G-Max periodically to ensure the highest level of water resistance is maintained.
